subsidiary, BG LNG Trading, has agreed to supply Hong Kong-based Castle Peak Power Company (CAPCO) one million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year for up to 20 years.
BG LNG Trading will begin delivering the LNG, sourced from various parts of the world, to Hong Kong’s planned import terminal on South Soko Island when it is completed in 2013.
BG Group, one of the main suppliers of LNG to the US, has a leading position in the Atlantic Basin LNG market and a leading exporter to the Asia Pacific markets. The company has expanded its operations from Egypt to Trinidad and Tobago.
BG Group said it recently completed the formation of an alliance with Australia’s Queensland Gas Company Ltd to jointly develop a new liquefaction plant of three million to four million tonnes per year in eastern Australia.
