(EnergyAsia, October 22 2013, Wednesday) — Penwell Corp said its two energy events, featuring conferences and exhibitions, in Bangkok, Thailand earlier this month attracted a record attendance of more than 7,800 delegates and visitors from over 70 countries.

POWER-GEN Asia and Renewable Energy World Asia, billed as the region’s premier conference and exhibition for the power generation and alternative energy industries, took place at the IMPACT Exhibition & Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand on October 2-4 to focus on the future of Asia’s power industry.

The 21st annual POWER-GEN Asia and Renewable Energy World Asia hosted seven conference tracks including the inaugural Industrial Water Day, all under the theme of “Advancing Asia’s Energy Future”. The events also featured 230 exhibitors from the region and around the world showcasing their latest technologies, products and solutions.

The key speakers included Thai officials Twarath Sutabutr, Deputy Director-General, Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, Ministry of Energy; Piyasvasti Amranand, chairman, Energy for Environment Foundation and Soonchai Kumnoonsate, Governor, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.
Markus Lorenzini, Head of Energy Sector for Siemens’ ASEAN-Pacific Cluster, Yerim Park of the International Energy Agency, Robert McGregor a senior HSBC executive, Colin Tam of Crystal Vision Energy Ltd, Michael Thomas of The Lantau Group (HK) Limited and Wouter van Wersch of Alstom International, also presented while Mark Hutchinson, managing director of IHS Consulting, moderated a panel discussion on power issues.
