(EnergyAsia, September 29) — Five international firms participated in the pre-bid meet called by GAIL for the appointment of a technical consultant to carry out the pre-feasibility study for the proposed IranÐPakistan-India gas pipeline project. The study is due to be completed by mid December.

 

The companies include Snamprogetti of Italy, Technip of Germany, J P Kenny of Australia, Tractebel of Belgium and ILF of UK. Various issues and queries raised by the potential bidders were discussed during the meeting.

 

GAIL has been appointed with the role of selecting the technical and legal advisors for the proposed pipeline project. GAIL has floated global tenders to select the companies.

 

The 2,100-km pipeline will run mostly through Iran (1,100km), followed by Pakistan (750 km) and India (250 km).
