(INFRALINE) — Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd’s (HPCL) joint venture entity South Asia LPG Company (SALPG) is expected to begin building a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) underground cavern.

“SALPG will soon commence implementation of the LPG underground cavern with a storage capacity of 60,000 MT along with related infrastructure for receipt and dispatch facilities”, HPCL chairman and managing director M B Lal said at its annual general meeting here last week.

The company was also setting up new plants at Visakhapatnam and Kolkata, he said, adding, the other joint venture Hindustan Colas Ltd continues to consolidate its position as market leaders in bitumen emulsions.

Mr Lal also announced investments in Mumbai and Visakhapatnam refineries to upgrade the quality of auto fuels to Euro III standard. New investments were also under consideration for LPG plants, storage tanks and other infrastructure, he said.
