(EnergyAsia, June 28) — Oman Shipping Company and Japan’s Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd have entered into an equal joint venture agreement to own two carriers of refined and crude oil products, according to the Oman News Agency (ONA).
Ahmed bin Abdul-Nabi Macki, chairman of Oman Shipping Company, signed the agreement while on an official visit to Japan last week. Mr Macki is also Minister of National Economy and deputy chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council.
Mr Macki told ONA that investing in transport of oil and its products is part of the Oman Shipping Company’s policy to diversify its sources of income.
He said the 85,000 cubic metre oil products carrier will enter into service in 2008 while the 350,000 cubic meter crude tanker will start up in 2009.
