Intertanko, the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners, has announced the following personnel changes affecting its Asian representative office and Latin American panel.
Minerva Alfonso, who set up its Asian office in Singapore in 1999, is relinquishing her post as regional manger in August to commence maternity leave. John Fawcett-Ellis has been appointed her successor while continuing as Intertanko’s legal counsel with specific responsibility for chartering and documentary matters. In his new position he will also act as secretary to Intertanko’s Asian Panel.
Mr Fawcett-Ellis, an English solicitor by profession, has been with the association since 1997. Upon completion of her leave Ms Alfonso will return to a senior position in the European offices of Intertanko.
Anders Baardvik has been appointed regional manager for Latin America and will act as secretary of the association’s Latin American panel, succeeding Mr Fawcett-Ellis. Mr Baardvik has been with Intertanko since 1996 and also retains the position as executive officer at the association’s London office.
Intertanko’s Asian panel was established in 1997 to strengthen the participation of Asian tanker shipping interests in the association. The panel has served to bring tanker owners in the region together, not only to discuss local matters or the impact of international issues on regional activities, but also to establish closer relationships with maritime authorities and trade bodies. The Asian panel is chaired by K.H. Koo from Tai Chong Cheang Steamship Co. (H.K.) Ltd.
