(EnergyAsia, February 18, Wednesday) — The ‘2nd Annual Petrochemical summit’ will be held in Beijing, China on March 12 and 13.

The global financial crisis has greatly affected the petrochemical industry. Despite the economic downturn and falling demand, China recorded a GDP growth of nine percent in the first three quarters of 2008. 

The conference will discuss how the industry can deal with the financial crisis.

Senior officials from China’s Ministry of Commerce, National Development and Reform Committee, Petrochemical Association and Asia-Pacific Energy Research Centre will share their views on the impact of the crisis on China and the world, as well as the measures taken by the government.

Topics covered include trends in Asia’s economy and petrochemical industry, Chinese petrochemical supply-demand balance, environmental issues, research and development, innovation, import and export forecasts, development plans of the Tianjin Binhai Chemical Industrial Zone, mergers and acquisitions, supply chain management issues and cost control.
