(EnergyAsia, September 25, Thursday) — The ‘15th Singapore International Bunkering Conference’ or better known as ‘SIBCON 2008’, will be held at the Shangri-La hotel from October 15 to 17.

Built on the theme of ‘Powering Global Shipping: The Marine Fuels Challenge’, SIBCON 2008 will focus on regulatory, environmental and market issues issues affecting the shipping and bunker markets. This would include the outlook for low sulphur fuel oil demand and availability as well as at the investment required, cost and the commercial impact of new regulations on the viability of shipping.

Topics covered include regulatory developments, MARPOL Annex VI Sulphur Issue, shipping industry outlook, sustainable shipping and the environment, marine fuels outlook and trends, update on Singapore as a maritime centre and marine fuels standards.

Delegates are invited to join Singapore’s Maritime Port and Authority (MPA) to witness an oil pollution exercise on the third day of the event.
