(EnergyAsia, September 29) — Singapore’s Ezra Holdings Ltd, through wholly-owned Lewek Shipping Pte Ltd, has placed orders for the building of two new multipurpose anchor handling, towing and supply vessels (AHTS) for US$15.29 million, excluding the cost of certain owner furnished equipment.
The two 65-metre 7,300 brake horsepower AHTS will be delivered by end-2006. The vessels, to be built by Pan-United Marine Ltd, will join Ezra’s new delivery orderbook of two other multi-purpose AHTS, two anchor handling tugs (AHT) and a sophisticated heavy lift accommodation pipelay vessel.
“Ezra is now building up its fleet base to drive earnings beyond FY07. This latest order is in line with our fleet expansion and upgrade programme. We will stay focussed on supporting the sustained firm demand in offshore E&P activities in the oil and natural gas sector,” said Lionel Lee, Ezra’s Managing Director.
“The past under-investment in the sector has created an acute shortage of better-equipped and high-tonnage offshore support vessels today, particularly those suitable for long term charters. I see Ezra as a key service provider in this market, with our increasingly wide range of offshore support vessels that meet the stringent requirements of the oil majors worldwide.”
The group operates one of the youngest fleets of sophisticated vessels serving the buoyant offshore oil and gas industry. Ezra currently manages a fleet of 13 vessels comprising six AHTS, one AHT, two tugs, two crew boats, one barge and a heavy lift accommodation work barge.
By end FY2007, Ezra said its fleet under management and operation will grow to 26 offshore support vessels with a strong deepwater E&P support services capability. The company took delivery of three AHTS in FY05 and another four AHTs and four AHTS will be delivered in FY2006.
Ezra Holdings is an offshore support and marine services provider supporting the offshore oil and gas industry, mainly in Southeast Asia. Its offshore support services unit provides offshore support vessels for charter as well as ship management services for its own and third party vessels. Its fleet of six anchor handling, towing, and supply (AHTS) vessels, one anchor handling tug (AHT), one heavy lift accommodation work barge, two fast crew utility boats, two tugs and a barge are on time charters.
The group also has a marine services division that provides marine supplies and engineering services. These include sourcing for specialised products such as customised safety equipment package, fire fighting units, and deck machinery; and engineering services such as ship and rig repair and installations, fabrication of steel structures, and repair and overhaul services.
