(EnergyAsia, October 24, Friday) — The second edition of ‘Seatrans’ will be held at Singapore’s new luxury hotel, St. Regis, from November 25 to 27.

Organiser IBC Asia said ‘Seatrans 2008’ will comprise three conferences – The ‘8th International Dry Bulk Review / Dry Bulk Ports and Terminals’, ‘3rd Maritime HR Summit ‘ and ‘Asian Shipbuilding Summit’ – which will focus on the different areas of shipping.

Topics covered on day one include strategies for sustainable growth, dry bulk markets and commercial concerns, cooperation and competition in the liner industry, prospects for global shipping, maritime manpower, global shipping markets and dry bulk shipping, global oversupply of tonnage, integration of operations, innovative compensation and benefits strategy, recruitment challenges, world shipbuilding capacities, quality shipbuilder and financial issues.

Day two will focus on iron ore, steel and coal supplies, shipping trends, employment issues, HR strategy and performance improvement, shipbuilding technology, safe shipping, Hull Lifecycle Programme (HLP), human performance management, education and government intervention, shipbuilding contracts, role of VLOCs in dry bulk shipping markets, challenges and demands in port operations, offshore manpower, shipbuilding in India, Japan, Malaysia and Dubai and sustainable shipping.

Topics on the last day include future of dry bulk ports and terminals, port competitiveness, floating terminals, transhipment operations optimisation, QHSE management system, and port development planning and expansion plans.
