(EnergyAsia, February 19, Tuesday) — The Learning Group Executive Education will be conducting a course on reservoir engineering at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Singapore from February 27 to 29.

The course addresses fundamental concepts and modern practical methods that will assist in the handling, analysing and interpretation of subsurface and production data at all stages of field development.

In the exploration and production business, tools such as integrated petroleum engineering studies and field development plans are used to maximise economic production of hydrocarbons.

The course will be conducted by Rik Drenth, an independent consultant on reservoir engineering. Mr Drenth worked as a research physicist and reservoir engineer for Shell for 25 years.

Participants will learn about the physics of oil and gas fields, and be taught to apply reservoir engineering methods and appreciate the construction and use of reservoir models. Participants will learn to estimate petroleum reserves, plan development and assess uncertainties.

Practical experience will be obtained in integrated field development work by addressing pertinent problems in study teams.
