(EnergyAsia, March 4 2011, Friday) — Germany’s TUV SUD has big plans to grow its testing, inspection and certification businesses in the Asia Pacific region in 2011, including its service offerings for the energy, petrochemical and marine sectors.

At a lunch briefing yesterday, Chong Weng Hoe, the chief executive of Singapore-based subsidiary TUV SUD PSB Pte Ltd, said the company will aim to fully exploit the synergies between TUV SUD’s global brand and PSB’s experience and reputation in the Asia Pacific region.

Other TUV SUD PSB executives attending the event were Chan Kum Yew, Learning CEO, Peter Bieheim, Learning vice president, and Shirley Lee, assistant vice president for corporate services.

Last January, the company launched TUV SUD PSB Learning from the merger of PSB Academy Corporate Learning & Consulting and the Service Quality Centre, previously half-owned by Singapore Airlines.

Mr Chong said the new centre combines the talents and resources of the two training arms to offer quality corporate training and consulting services.

Known as PSB Corporation before being acquired by the TUV SUD Group in 2006, the company provides a comprehensive and integrated suite of product testing, inspection and certification services.

At its regional head office in Science Park, the company serves a variety of industries including aerospace, automotive, chemicals, construction and infrastructure, consumer products, food, healthcare, information communications, marine, power and energy, rail and softlines (textiles, clothing and footwear).

The company also operates in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

Established 140 years ago in Germany, TUV SUD is a leading global provider of technical services, helping its clients improve quality, safety, reliability while ensuring environmental protection and cost effectiveness.
