(EnergyAsia, April 20 2011, Wednesday) — Swiss-based engineering giant Foster Wheeler AG said it has been awarded a contract by Bahrain National Gas Company (BSC) or BANAGAS to undertake a feasibility study to revamp and expand its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) facilities in Bahrain.

The contract, won by a subsidiary of Foster Wheeler’s Global Engineering and Construction Group, is aimed at enabling the plant to increase its throughput to 285 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of associated gas and 18 MMSCFD of refinery offgas by 2014.

Foster Wheeler, which did not disclose the project’s contract value, said it will develop options to modify and expand the existing facilities, and later will undertake a technical and economic evaluation to select the preferred options for implementation. The study is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2011.

“This latest award confirms BANAGAS’s continued confidence in the quality and responsiveness of our team, following work successfully executed for BANAGAS for their previous expansion studies at this location,” said Umberto della Sala, Foster Wheeler AG’s interim CEO.

Foster Wheeler AG is a global engineering and construction contractor and power equipment supplier delivering technically advanced, reliable facilities and equipment.
