(EnergyAsia, September 19 2011, Monday) — Insurance and risk management services provider Aon Corp has appointed former ExxonMobil executive Martin Westacott as regional director for its energy services under Aon Risk Solutions Asia.

Mr Westacott, who has 25 years of experience in the upstream and downstream energy and chemical sectors, will focus on key energy clients and prospects across Asia, amplifying Aon’s standing as the leading energy risk management and insurance broking firm in the region.

Most of his professional experience was with ExxonMobil’s corporate insurance department, where he was regional director and vice president at ExxonMobil Risk Management Asia Pacific, with responsibility for directing the insurance and risk management philosophy across the region.

This included the development and coordination of complex programmes utilising insurance, self-insurance, and captive participation. He led the US major’s  management on several large-scale new Asia Pacific development projects including PNG LNG (Papua New Guinea), Gorgon (Australia), and the Fujian Refinery & Ethylene Development project (China).

In addition to Asia Pacific work, he was also a lead ExxonMobil representative in several significant onshore and offshore projects in the UK, Norway, Africa, Middle East and North America.

Mr Westacott holds a Banking, Insurance and Finance degree from the University College of North Wales.  He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and is a Full Member of the Association of Insurance & Risk Managers.
