(EnergyAsia, May 9 2012, Wednesday) — Australia’s mining giant BHP Billiton said it has appointed Ian Maxwell as president of its Sydney-based coal unit to succeed Jimmy Wilson who has taken over as president of its iron ore unit.
Mr Maxwell, who joined BHP Billiton in 2004 as president of minerals exploration, was previously managing director and head of global mining research for Citigroup. Mr Maxwell, who has a BSc in mining geology from the Royal School of Mines, had also worked for Anglo American and Rio Tinto.
Danny Malchuk, the company’s vice president (strategy and development) for base metals, will take over as president of minerals exploration to be located in Singapore.
Both appointments are effective July 1.
