Derrick Services Ltd (DSL), a UK-based oil and gas industry construction firm, said it has appointed Ryan Moore as regional manager of its newly established offices in Southeast Asia.

DSL supports drilling contractors and operators worldwide by providing a range of services covering derrick inspection, rig and drilling package refurbishment and upgrade, derrick assembly and outfitting, rope access trades personnel, in-house engineering, design and fabrication.

With over 25 years of oil industry experience, Mr Moore will coordinate services for DSL’s established customers in the region from his base in Singapore.

Mike Smith, DSL managing director, said:

“Ryan has established himself as an excellent ambassador for DSL and his reputation with our long term customers stands him in good stead to maximise the potential for the business in the region having spent 18 months overseeing the assembly and outfitting of the derricks on the Maersk Deliverer and Discoverer.

“He has the primary responsibility for developing our business in Southeast Asia and the Far East with a particular
focus on derrick assembly, rig inspection, recertification and upgrading work.

“Through establishing our presence in strategic locations around the world we are ensuring that we are available to our clients at short notice, as is often the requirement.”

Mr Moore said: “There are excellent opportunities for DSL to provide our broad range of services in Asia Pacific, including derrick assembly, inspection and upgrade work. It is also very encouraging how quickly we have been able to start picking up orders with work already carried out in New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as work in Singapore.”

The company employs over 120 staff and has offices and operations in the UK, the UAE and Brazil, as well as the new base in Singapore. DSL reported a turnover of around US$25 million in 2009.
