(EnergyAsia, August 22 2014, Friday) — The second annual Global Green Economic Forum (GGEF), to be held next month at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands, will focus on building a sustainable eco-system for business.

The gathering of more than 300 delegates will discuss four themes: building sustainable business practices, staying sustainable through rapid innovation and climate change, engaging sustainable human capital practices, and incorporating sustainable corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies and practices, using China as a case study.

Singapore’s environment and water resources minister Vivian Balakrishnan and British environmental leader Robert Swan will be among the speakers addressing the audience Comprising policy makers, business executives, environmentalists and academics at the forum on September 3.

The forum’s four sessions
The “Build To Last” session will examine how good sustainability practices can help business to do well by sharing some examples of what’s in it for people. They will also share the possible solutions to tackle the hurdles that companies may face to implement sustainability practices.

The “Winning Through Change & Innovation” session will look into how economics, technology and climate change are affecting the way people are doing business. It will explore workable recommendations and solutions.

In the “People Matter” session, delegates will find out how companies can identify and use sustainability practices to better engage their employees. How do employees benefit? What is the role of ‘education’ when it comes to sustainability matters? This session will also discuss and explore possible solutions on building a sustainable employment market.

The final session discusses the theme of “A Sustainable Future for China”. As the world’s second largest economy, China’s development will have an impact on the rest of the world.

What are the CSR strategies and practices of Chinese companies, and what lessons do they hold for the rest of the world?
