(EnergyAsia, November 25 2010, Thursday) — Jason Marine Group Ltd, a Singapore Exchange Catalist-listed provider of integrated solutions of communication, navigation and automation systems to the marine and offshore oil and gas industries, was honoured as a Heritage Brand at the recent Singapore Prestige Brand Awards (SPBA) 2010.

The company was judged as one of just seven winners in the Heritage Brand category, which fetes local firms that have embraced exceptional brand practices for over 30 years.

Established in 1976 as Jason Electronics Pte Ltd, the company has grown from a business that operated out a 500 square-foot office into an international corporation with more than 200 staff in six countries including Singapore.

Joseph Foo, Jason Marine’s executive chairman, said: “As our business grew, we made concerted efforts to brand ourselves as a regional provider of quality marine communication, navigation and automation systems, while retaining all the values that clients have come to associate with the Jason Marine name.

“We are delighted that we have been recognised as one of Singapore’s prestige and heritage brands. A strong brand enables the group to increase its recall rate among clients. Entrenching the brand further is thus in line with the group’s ambition of forging a world-class name for itself in the global marine electronics industry.”

Since 2002, the annual awards have recognised homegrown companies that have successfully developed and managed their brands. Entrants are assessed in five major categories: Promising Brands, Established Brands, Heritage Brands, Regional Brands and Special Merit. This year’s awards drew 138 competitors in all.

Award winners set new milestones by which to benchmark their brand equity against their industry peers, and on December 9, an overall winner will be chosen in each of the five main SPBA categories. In addition, a Most Popular Brand Winner will be selected this year based on votes from the public.

Jason Marine offers one-stop solutions that span design, supply, integration, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance. Aside from carrying a wide variety of supplies from renowned manufacturers, such as Raytheon, Anschutz and Thrane & Thrane, the Group also resells satellite airtime services to complement its communications business.
